We all see life differently. Some see it as a happy experience, while others see it as a burden upon themselves or others. But no matter what, we all live our lives how we want to. But then again, there are those circumstances where we don't get to live the life that we would like to. Fate has its own path for us sometimes and it will take us that way no matter what. Susie Salmon (yes, just like the fish) was only 14 years old when fate had its own opinion on how she would live her life...or lack there of.
When the movie came out I was so thrilled cause it looked like an amazing movie that I could not wait to see. And was blown away when I walked out of that theater that night with my wishes fulfilled. I had not read the book before and after seeing that movie I wanted to read it so bad. And now the opportunity has risen before me and I quickly chose it as my book for the second part of the Semester. Like the movie, the book is blowing me away and I love it. So far the movie is better than the book. which is weird cause usually the books are so much better than the movies they become. But with "The Lovely Bones", the book is a little bit more complicated than what you might think it is. It is a bit random in a few places and not connected where it should be in places. And yet I still want to continue reading. A movie can take you only so far...but a book can let you run wild.

I enjoyed this book and cannot WAIT to see the movie! I hope you enjoy reading it and the ending as much as I did. The ending does get a bit out there, but it's a great book. I'm glad you've found a book you're interested in :)
ReplyDeleteI completely agree about books letting you run wild. A movie sets up everything for you and you just sit there and watch. But when you read a book you are in the drivers seat. Everything you visualize is your perspective of the text. Books are awesome.
ReplyDeleteThis is a well-written post, Nick. I haven't seen the movie yet. I'm going to wait to hear your final verdict.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Ashley will have someone to talk about the novel with!
